Which posts can be saved, how the file arrives, which folder it lands in on your device, and what to consider before reposting someone else's content.
How do I download an Instagram Reel from a link?
Every public post has its own address. The tool uses that address to find the video or photo Instagram already shows to any visitor, then gives you a download button.
The file travels from Instagram to your device without being stored on our servers. The only thing we ask for is the link.
Does a downloaded Instagram video lose quality?
No. It is the same MP4 the app uses to play the post, with sound and at the original resolution. There is no recompression, cropping or added watermark.
If the video looks blurry, it already looked that way on Instagram: the creator uploaded a low-resolution file or the platform compressed it on upload. A copy never looks better than its source.
Can I download just one item from an Instagram carousel?
Yes. When you paste a carousel link, each item appears separately in the order it was posted. Save one, a few or all of them, one at a time. Videos come as MP4 and photos as JPG.
Reels, feed videos and carousels almost never fail. Single-photo posts fail now and then, because Instagram changes how it serves that format. If it happens, wait a few minutes and try again.
Where do downloaded Instagram videos go on my phone?
It depends on the device:
- Android: the file goes to the Download folder and usually shows up in your Gallery or Google Photos too.
- iPhone: in Safari, it lands in the Files app under Downloads. To move it to Photos, open the file, tap Share and choose "Save Video".
- Computer: it goes to your browser downloads folder and opens in any player or editor.
Can I download Stories or posts from private accounts?
No. The tool reaches Instagram without being logged in to any account. Private posts are visible only to approved followers, and Stories require a login, so both are out of reach.
That is by design: with no login, no account is exposed, neither yours nor ours. Posts from public profiles download without restriction.
Can I repost a video I downloaded from Instagram?
Being public does not transfer ownership. Keeping your own posts, making a backup or watching offline is personal use. Reposting, re-editing for another profile or using a video in an ad requires the creator's permission.
- Stick to your own videos or ones you have permission to use.
- If you are allowed to repost, credit the creator in the caption.
- For commercial use of someone else's video, get the agreement in writing.
Is it worth posting the same Reel on other platforms?
Plenty of creators save their own Reels and post them to TikTok and YouTube Shorts as well. On Instagram, the basics stay the same: a hook that holds the first few seconds, a short caption and quick replies to comments.
Small profiles tend to lose visitors before they decide to follow. OrbitFollow delivers Instagram followers with orders placed by @ only, no account access, and tells you before checkout how long each package takes to finish.
